I have some great news, I've started a NEW RESIDENCY in London. And it's a lot different from my other
two clubs NUBIENT and LOFT IN SPACE ....
To start with it's an AFTERHOURS club so it doesnt open till 5am on Sunday.
At that time there were already hundreds queuing on the opening night, which proves
that the promoters have really worked their balls off doing their stuff - heavy advertising
and flyering. Having the legendary designer TradeMark on board certainly scores extra Kudos
points - and weirdly enough the promoter of this event actually saw me play nine years ago
at Trade on the solitary occasion I ventured into that infamous club.
The venue is The Colosseum, a big dance venue that used to hold famous Jungle and Garage
events (so you know that they have plenty of security!). It's right on the Thames at Vauxhall
so there is a view over the river up to Big Ben and the London Eye. There's three rooms
and I'm in the long room from 5 until 10 or so (depends when they chuck us out!)
It's great to be back working on the Gay scene in London, for lots of reasons! I haven't actually
run a gay night for a long time - since the 80s in fact. I tried doing chillout rooms at gay places
in the 90s and people just weren't ready for it, but now I think it's changed a lot. London
is a lot more cosmopolitain than it was a decade ago, with cheaper flights and millions of
tourists coming here, most of them ending up trousered in some dodgy party somewhere.
